Football stadiums have become highly optimised machines for ninety minutes of spectacle. We believe they can become something more: places that generate value every day, strengthening the identity of an entire city.
The flag becomes experience, transforming the Croatian checkerboard and Dinamo’s emblem into a dynamic three-dimensional geometry that gives the project its unmistakable identity.
The concept redefines the stadium as an immersive civic landscape where culture, nature and football merge into one continuous spatial experience. This vision creates a stadium that is not only visited, but experienced.
Rather than creating an interchangeable stadium that could stand in any city, Maksimir unmistakably belongs to Zagreb — rooted in the identity, history and distinctive culture of Croatian football, yet translated into a robust and contemporary architecture.
The concept shows that strong identity does not have to come at the expense of resources or cost efficiency. Here, architectural expression, material efficiency and economic construction are part of the same system.
Embedded into the landscape of Maksimir Park, the stadium becomes part of a larger public and green urban framework
— while remaining, at its heart, a compact football arena shaped around atmosphere, proximity and the collective experience of the game.
